INTERVIEW
How did you get into the art world?
I have been in the art world since the time I drew a lot in the traditional Park School of Brasília-DF , at 308 Sul. In my teens, I was improving with drawing techniques taught by my father. Formally, I took courses at Senac in Artistic Drawing and Painting on Canvas, in Recife/PE in the 90s.
What do you understand as Fine Arts?
Fine Arts, for me, is every platform on which the human being, through his technique and sensitivity, can express thoughts, feelings and longings.
How do you define your Art?
I define it as a playful journey in an imaginary world where the search for hedonism predominates.
What are your greatest references in the world of the Arts?
In Brazil, among many, I find: Di Cavalcanti, Aldemir Martins, Rebolo, Tarsila do Amaral, Vicente do Rego Monteiro, Reynaldo Fonseca and Carybé. Abroad, to name a few: Edward Hopper, Van Gogh, Matisse, Botero, August Mack, Tamara lempicka , Titian and Caravaggio.
What are the main themes used in your works? And why is that?
The main themes used in my works are cycling, because it is an activity that involves pleasure and health. Classic cars, for the aesthetic beauty and appreciation of vintage culture. Personal encounters, which emphasizes friendship, love, fun and fraternization between acquaintances or not. Flowers, by movement, colors and message involved. And the artist in the art studio, where I can imagine several artists in their respective workplaces and techniques.
What are the main techniques used in your works? And which ones do you like to use the most?
I use ink on paper for my drawings. In canvas painting, I initially used oil paint. I currently use acrylic paint, which is my favorite.
What do you seek to pass through your works to the viewer?
My intention is to provoke in the viewer the search and/or identification with moments in life in which it is possible to go through pleasant situations. Whether experiencing the theme or just having the feeling of well-being when observing the work produced.
What are the best and greatest experiences in your artistic career?
In these 22 years of artistic career, I share the participation in collective, individual and virtual exhibitions. The participation in the Pernambuco Yearbook of Arts of the Arte Maior Gallery and be represented by the Galleries: Yellow Frog Art Gallery, salvador (BA); A Place to the Sun, from Curitiba (PR), Glen Arte from São Paulo (SP) and Coletiva 9 from Porto Alegre (RS) . There was a remarkable moment in my life when I started painting on canvas, in 1998, I worked as a federal Public Servant, at SUDENE, in Recife, and the desire to paint, the passion for painting was so great that I asked for exoneration. Later, I went on with my wife, in 2001, to live in a seaside village of Pernambuco, Serrambi. There I set up a painting studio, where I stayed until 2006, and where I painted many paintings with the theme of beach and small paintings with fruit composition, but I could not live entirely from Art; so I returned, again to the Public Service, via public tender in 2008 and today I am a server of INCRA, in Recife.
In your work is there a kind of protest beyond what is obviously seen? If so, which one? If not, is there a theme that awakens your willingness to protest?
My message is implicit in the work in the sense of going against what oppresses and saddens the human being, because by portraying idyllic and pleasurable moments, I am protesting against man's oppression by man, against a distressing daily life and against the destruction of nature.
Are you interested in doing a traveling exhibition? If so, how do you imagine this exhibition? Would you know what topic you would like to address?
Yes, I'm interested. I imagine it with large pictures on white walls and with proper spacing between the frames. One theme I would like to address is vintage culture.
Where do you want to get to as an Visual Artist?
I would like to see my work recognized and my art to inspire current and future artists. Awaken vocations and stimulate an existential debate. To be able to live exclusively to and from my art. Participate in the Art Fair circuit for the main art centers in Brazil and worldwide.
